When Politics & Family Collide: A Conversation with Lauren Duca | E43

Lauren Duca was devastated on election night of 2016. She couldn’t believe Donald Trump won and was disappointed her father voted for him. That disappointment eventually turned to frustration and anger. About a month after the election, Lauren wrote a story for Teen Vogue called Donald Trump is Gaslighting America and that only made things worse between Lauren and her dad.

She joins us to talk about the last three years, her relationship with her father – and how they repaired it – and about her mission of empowering young people to have a voice in American politics. She shares thoughts from her book How to Start a Revolution and how dads can support their kids, even when the disagree.

It may be the most powerful Positively Dad episode yet and a must listen for every father.

About the author, James

Thank you for joining me for the Positively Dad journey! My name is James Shaw and I'm a husband and father. I live in the Tampa Bay area with my wife, Terri and our young daughter, Naomi. The goal with Positively Dad for us to think, learn and grow. It's easy to get caught up in the day to day and miss opportunities to become amazing fathers. I trust that the conversations we have on Positively Dad will help you see that fatherhood is truly a journey and that we are better together than figuring it all out on our own.
